Who is DNSeuropa.com?
‘DNSeuropa.com’ is a brand of SiteHosting bvba, a well known Belgian hosting company, operating in the whole of Europe. SiteHosting is delivering domain name registration and hosting services to private persons, webmasters and business customers in Europe since 2001.
Who is the responsible .EU registry?
The European Commission has selected Eurid as the operator for .EU (European Community domain names). The three founding members of EURid are currently managing the country codes in .BE (Belgium), .IT (Italy) and .SE (Sweden).
Who can register .EU domain names?
To register a .EU domain name, you must:
- have a registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community;
- have an organization established within the European Community without prejudice to the application of national law;
- be a natural person, resident within the European Community.
I’m living outside Europe, can I register a .EU domain?
No, only companies and organizations with an office in an EU member country or citizens of an EU member country can register a .EU domain name. We will not register domain names for customers without a valid address in the European Community!
Which countries are the member states of the European Community?
Currently there are 27 member states (this includes the 10 new countries that were added in May 2004). The current list of EU member states is: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Romania and Bulgaria.
How do I register a .EU domain name?
Individuals and organizations cannot directly register a .EU domain name at EURid but should contact an accredited .EU registrar of its choice. DNSeuropa.com (brand of SiteHosting bvba) is an official, accredited .EU registrar from the very first day of the launch at 7 December 2005. You can verify this on the website of EURid.
Can I protect my .EU domain name against abusive registration?
There is a sunrise period available till 06 April 2006 to allow public bodies and holders of certain prior rights to register their names. The sunrise period will consist of two consecutive phases, each lasting two months. After these sunrise periods, all registrations will be handled on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Who will qualify to register .EU domain names during the Sunrise Period and afterwards?
The EU Regulations stipulate that EURid must have a Sunrise period to allow those with 'prior rights' to apply for registration in advance of beginning general registrations. The Sunrise period will take place in two phases, each lasting two months (Sunrise 1 from 07/12/2005 till 06/02/2006 and Sunrise 2 from 07/02/2006 till 06/04/2006).
During the first phase (Sunrise 1), public bodies and holders of registered Community or national trademarks will be able to register their names. During the second phase (Sunrise 2), anyone who qualifies to register in the first phase may apply for a domain, as well as holders of other rights recognized under Community law or the national law of an EU member state.
Domain names registered during the Sunrise period must be an exact match for the prior right claimed, and supporting documentary evidence will be required. EURid has appointed ‘PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ to validate applications during the Sunrise period.
As from 07/04/2006 (start Land Rush period), all individuals can start to register their .EU domain names. The Land Rush period is based on a first come, first served basis. Anyone who satisfies the geographical criteria set out above and is in compliance with the terms and conditions of registration may register a .EU name that is still available.
What are the fees that are being charged?
The following fees will apply during the Sunrise 1 & 2 application. This fee covers the administrative costs for and during the validation process. This fee does not include the yearly registration fee of the domain name itself (à 12,50 Euro/year):
- Your domain request has been introduced and validated by EURid and has been accepted:
Price: 155,00 Euro excl vat (normal procedure)
- Your domain request has been introduced and validated by EURid and has been refused for whatever reason:
Price: 155,00 Euro excl vat
(i.e. no proof of prior rights, …)
In case that your domain request has been introduced at EURid but has not been validated or verified for whatever reason, a refund of 70,00 Euro excl vat will be done. (i.e. the requested domain name was not available anymore, …). A refund will only be provided if the customer provides us with the IBAN and/or BIC code of his payment processor.
Fees applicable at this moment (during landrush fase):
NORMAL REGISTRATION / RENEWAL (landrush): 12,50 Euro excl VAT
TRANSFER FROM QUARANTAINE: 50,00 Euro excl VAT (including 1 year of registration)
If you cannot register my domain name(s), will I’ll be refund?
Assume that we cannot register your domain name for whatever reason (i.e. the requested domain name is not available anymore), we will refund the full registration fee if the customer provides us with the customernumber, ordernumber, IBAN and/or BIC code of his payment processor.
However, per refund we will charge a transaction fee of 10,00 Euro.
i.e. You (pré) registered 30 domain names for the total amount of 12,50 x 30 = 375,00 Euro and 10 domain names couldn’t be registered for reasons of non-availability. In this case, we will refund (12,50 Euro x 10) – 10 Euro = 115,00 Euro.
